Clay County News
Welcome to our Appalachian Christian Leadership Council, Clay County, NC, Released Time Bible Education Program
Exploratory Committee
Hi again Bob, this is Bob Louder. Boy, that is a mouthful of an introduction!
Yes, we are off and running, with the goal to start our first Released Time Bible Education (RTBE) program for Clay County High School students in January 2026. Thanks for agreeing to help make this prayerfully happen!
First, a bit of background:
- As you know, our first Towns County, GA, RTBE class started this past January. We have seven students and a great instructor who is developing an outstanding first-semester curriculum.
- The Lord blessed us each step of the way as we
- Incorporated as the Appalachian Christian Leadership Council (AppCLC–a 501-c-3 non-profit ministry, www.Appalachianclc.org),
- Formed our Board of Directors,
- Received RTBE Program approval from key Towns County leaders and administrators,
- Obtained a teaching location and student transportation, and
- Got off to a great start financially as well.
- Yes, we had some “bumps” along the way, but those “bumps” will be valuable “lessons learned” as we prayerfully work to start our first class in Clay County.
- Eventually, the AppCLC Board will have Members from each of the four counties we are incorporated to serve—Towns and Union Counties in GA and Clay and Cherokee Counties in NC. The county representative on the board is tasked with starting the RTBE program in his or her county. I live in Clay County, so it’s my responsibility to organize, launch, and administer the RTBE program in Clay County with your help!.
What’s Next:
- Our first step is to establish an “Exploratory Committee” composed of like-minded Clay County residents. Bob, thanks for agreeing to serve on this Committee with us.
- I will coordinate with you and the others on our Committee to set a date, time, and location for our first meeting the week of March 10th.
- We have opened discussions with Ms Angela D’Alosio from School Ministries, Inc.
- They assist Christians across the country in starting, sustaining, and growing RTBE programs, the only legal means to teach the Bible both academically and devotionally between the first and last bells.
- Angela has arranged with Mr. Mitch Prosser (with the NC Family Council) to host a Zoom meeting for our Committee to discuss some new NC RTBE legislation (Wednesday, March 19th at 1:00 PM). I will have more information for you when we meet as a Committee the week of March 10th.
- After the Zoom call, our Committee will meet to start drafting an outline of all we need to accomplish before the start of our first class.
So, Bob, there you have it–the latest and best info on how we will prayerfully launch an RTBE program for our Clay County High School Students.
Again, praise the Lord and thank you for agreeing to participate in this adventure of discovery to help meet the spiritual needs of our county high school students.
Serving together,
Bob
